Helen Jean Bentley Kellen Pruitt, 93, went home to Jesus on July 24, 2021 after a brief illness in Raleigh, NC.
She was born and raised in Henderson, KY to parents Orville and Johnnie Mae Bentley (Geneva, KY) on January 9, 1928. Helen graduated from Corydon High School and Lockyears Business College in Evansville, IN. She later worked at Tri-State Plastics, Rural Electric (REA), and Albright Chevrolet. Helen moved from the Henderson area in the mid 60's but she always loved returning to visit family and friends. She lived in Texas, Michigan, West Virginia, and Illinois before she made her final move at the age of 86 to live with her son and his wife, Tracy and Sherri, in Wilmington, NC. She had been a member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #186, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Smith Mills, KY, and Freedom Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene (Gene) Pruitt, sister Ida Lee David, and stepson Eugene Ray Pruitt.
She is survived by her sons Rick Kellen (Henderson, KY) and Tracy Pruitt (Wilmington, NC) and her sister Patricia Bentley Dalgleish (Agoura Hills, CA.) Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 4 nephews, and numerous cousins. She will be sadly missed by her family and the many friends she treasured during her time on Earth.
Relatives and friends are invited to Helen's Life Celebration from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Ray Buckman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
