John Emerson Bliss, son of Wendell and Louella (Phillips) Bliss, was born December 27, 1921, near Braymer, Mo and passed away November 19, 2014 at Leavenworth, Ks. He has lived in or near Braymer 86 years except for 3½ years serving in the U. S. Army during World War II and since 2008 in Leavenworth, Ks. He graduated as class president from Braymer High School in 1939; went to work for Stanberry Market one week after graduation; was employed as cashier by the First National Bank of Braymer in 1942 and retired from the Bank in 1986 as Executive Vice President. He was active in church service and school activities as a player and spectator.

Through the years he has served as City Clerk; School Board Director; Braymer Evergreen Cemetery Secretary; Christian Church elder and treasurer; insurance agent; Braymer High School Alumni Association Secretary; 69 years a member of Tweedie-Murray American Legion Post; Rotary Club; Missouri Bankers Association; Livingston-Caldwell County Bankers Association, President.

On January 21, 1943, he married Veva Jean Murray at the Chillicothe Christian Church, and they are parents of one son, James Albert Bliss, Leavenworth, Ks.
Survivors in addition to his son include 3 nieces, 5 nephews, a sister-in-law, Leola Bliss plus 4 cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Albert Bliss and Winston Bliss; sisters Roberta Bliss and Mary Elizabeth Dickman.

Funeral services will be held at the Braymer Christian Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, November 21, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, November 21, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
