Jeffrey K. Chandler, 57, of Aurora passed away peacefully Oct. 16, 2011, surrounded by family and friends at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood.

Jeff fought a short but courageous battle with T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Jeff was born Aug. 23, 1954, in DeKalb to Richard and Mavis Chandler, graduated from West Aurora High School, class of 1972, Waubonsee Community College and Northern Illinois University.

Jeff loved coaching and throughout the years coached not only both his daughters in basketball and softball, but helped coach other teams as well, including a girls champion City of Lights basketball team.

Jeff was a teacher in the IBEW Local 461 apprenticeship program, teaching different levels of the program for over 15 years. He was a member St. Joseph Catholic Church, Phoenix Club, Aurora Turners Club and IBEW Local 461. Jeff was part owner of his family business, Complete Electrical in Batavia, working there for 40 years, starting as an electrician in the field and then working in the office as an electrical contractor. Jeff learned from his mentor Uncle Carroll and worked alongside his cousins Steve Risch and Steve Weiss.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Betty; his beloved daughters, Sarah and Katherine; brothers, Douglas (Mary) Chandler of Batavia, Richard Chandler of Des Plaines and Scott Chandler of Grand Junction, Colo.; sister, Michele (Tony) Chandler-Basala of Vallejo, Calif.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Martha and Rudy Schuetz of Aurora, Mary Hubbard of Dallas, Texas, and Bill Hubbard of Los Angeles, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Phillip and Evan Schuetz and Aleah Basala; father-in-law, William J. Hubbard of Aurora; lifelong friends Ernie Ellis and Mike Coakley; and other cousins, relatives and a multitude of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his uncle and aunt, Carroll and Mary Weiss; and mother-in-law, Stephanie Hubbard.

"Jeffro" was a funny guy with a great sense of humor, a contagious smile and laugh, and a truly unique perspective on the world. He never met a stranger, and he loved to be with friends and family no matter what the occasion. Whether you knew him as Jeffrey, Jeff or Jeffro you will never meet another person like him.
