Sgt. Greene began his career with the Union County Sheriff's office in December 2004. He currently supervised the Support Services Bureau and previously served as a supervisor in the jail. He often spoke of being in his "dream Job" and his work ethic, integrity and professionalism demonstrated this. He attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Monroe, and served in numerous civic organizations, including prior service with the N.C. Baptists Men's Association. He also was a member of the Renegade Pigs, a law enforcement motorcycle club that preformed charity assistance for members and families of public safety organizations. Sgt. Greene will be remembered for his friendly smile, sense of humor, impeccable work ethic and kindness. He loved all kinds of music and was a devoted Florida Gators fan. Although he will be missed here on earth more than words can describe, his family and friends can take comfort knowing that he has slipped the bonds of earth to be with his heavenly Father. Visitation will be Friday, November 21, 2014, from 6pm until 8pm at Lakeview Baptist Church in Monroe. Services to celebrate the life of Jeff will be Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 11 am, also at Lakeview Baptist Church, with Reverend Steve Jirgal and Sheriff Eddie Cathey officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park with full honors. Memorials may be made to the Union County Crime Prevention Committees Inc., PO Box 295, Monroe, N.C. 28111. McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Sergeant Greene. Online condolences may be sent to www.mcewenmonroechapel.com.
