Donald Gene Wooten of Winston-Salem passed away at Forsyth Medical Center at the age of 87.

Mr. Wooten was born February 26, 1927, the son of the late Sanford McNeil Wooten and Rosa Myrtle Wagoner of Yadkin County. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Peggy Dickerson, and daughter Rebecca Jo Hunter, five brothers and six sisters.

Mr. Wooten was retired as a Grocery Store Owner. He enjoyed baseball and fishing with his brothers. He was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church, active in the Fellowship Sunday School class and the Maple Springers.

Mr. Wooten served in the Military Police in the U.S. Army during World War II while he was stationed in Germany.

Don is survived by one granddaughter, Ashley Crews (John) and son-in-law Wayne Hunter of Winston-Salem and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Randy Waugh officiating.
