Raymond J. Bradley of the Rossmoor section of Monroe Township, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. He was 85.

Born in Newark, Mr. Bradley was a resident of Newark and Orange, N.J. and a longtime resident of Willingboro before moving to Monroe Township Rossmoor Adult Community 14 years ago. He attended Newark and Orange schools but gained his High School diploma as a member of the U.S. Air Force.

Entering the U.S. Army in 1945 and following a 29-year military career from 1945-1974, his Army service ended in 1947 and he reenlisted in the U.S. Air Force. His military service included five overseas tours of duty in Japan, Germany, Korea, Libya and North Africa. In addition, he traveled on special duty assignments to England, France and Greece. Stateside he served at Fort Bliss, Texas, Presque Isle Air Force Base, Maine, Westover AFB, Mass., Mitchell AFB, Long Island, N.Y., Sampson AFB and especially with his participation in the Berlin Airlift in 1949 when assigned to Rhein-Main Air Base, Frankfurt, Germany. His awards included the Meritorious Service Medal, U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Medal for Humane Action with the Berlin Airlift Award, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea War Service Medal, New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal, New Jersey Korean Service Medal and USAF Small Arms Expert Medal. He was retired at McGuire AFB, N.J. in the grade of Master Sergeant.

Mr. Bradley was extremely loyal to the Armed Forces, which he considered an honor to be part of. After military retirement he continued to serve his country as a civilian employee maintenance inspector with the Department of the Army at Fort Dix, N.J. He compiled over 42 years of government service.

Mr. Bradley was a past commander and life member of VFW Post 4914 in Willingboro and became an 'All State Post Commander' in 1980. He held life membership in the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Air Force Association. He also held membership in The American Legion Post 489 Burlington, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years entering in 1959 to present. From 1940 to 1942, he was a member of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of Troop 26, Newark, N.J. He always stressed how Scouting was the foundation for good citizenship.

Mr. Bradley was the son of the late Rose Cooper Bradley and was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Yowpa-Bradley, in 1997.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of ten years, Joyce Hull-Bradley; his son, Glenn (Corine) of Southampton; and his daughter, Kathleen of Cinnaminson; five grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, Kyle, Scott and Brittany; four step-children, Laura (Doug) of New Brunswick, David (Lori) of Hawaii, Cynn (Lewis) of Keyport and Kevin of Toms River and four step-grandchildren, Noah, Brooke, Megan and Jacqueline.

His words were, 'I had a great life and I thank God and all my military and civilian leaders for guidance and for standing with me over many years'.

Funeral services will be held 8:45 a.m., Monday, Nov. 10, at the A. S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, N.J. Interment will follow in Beverly National Cemetery in Edgewater Park, N.J. with full military honors. Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9, and again from 8 a.m. to the time of service, Monday, Nov. 10, at the A. S. Cole Funeral Home.
