In 1870, George lived with his wife and family, farming in Palmyra, Marion County, Missouri. In 1880, they were living and farming in Van Zandt County, Texas.

According to their grandson Carl, the family moved to Scipio, Tobucksy County, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, in 1889.
