She was an excellent cook and seamstress and continued sewing well into her senior years. She was known for the hand-stitched pot holders she gave to friends and family.
Gertrude was a feisty young woman but became a Bible believing Christian late in life. She enjoyed worshiping at The Lighthouse Church in Alsip, Illinois. Church members lovingly remember her for having "an unusual sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. She could talk in tongues and dance in the Holy Spirit on a moment's notice...her Bible was all marked up from many years of reading. She loved the Lord with all her heart!"
She prayed fervently for her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and future generations that they too would come to know and joyfully serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
