Obituary
Anna "Ruth" Cheatham, age 79, of Ferndale passed away on Saturday, May 14.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1925 in Kamiah, Idaho, to Ross and Jessie Buckingham. Ruth's younger years were spent in Montana, Idaho and eastern Washington.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, and in 1945 she married her husband, Stan, in Pullman, Wash. The couple married while he was home on leave from the U.S. Army Air Force. They moved to Lahaina, Hawaii, in 1950 and enjoyed many wonderful years and times with friends there before moving to Ferndale in 1965, when Stan took a job at Intalco.
Ruth loved gardening, sewing, crafting and reading. She was a member of Tillicum Club, two bridge clubs and a Canasta club.
The family would like to thank Whatcom County Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Ruth.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; son, Stephen Cheatham; and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Daniel Cheatham, and his wife, Barbara, of Ferndale; daughters, Kay Relethford and husband, Glenn of Ferndale, and Ann Denison and husband, Mike of Kailua, Kona, Hawaii; daughter-in-law, Lynn Cheatham of Ferndale; sister, Jean McKeen and husband, David of Nevada City, Calif.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Greenacres Moles Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice, 800 E. Chestnut St., Suite 1-C, Bellingham, WA 98225, or to the American Heart Association, 710 Second Ave. Ste. 900, Seattle, WA 98104.
Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family will greatly miss her.
