Robert Samuel Spurlin, age 65, of Sayre passed away Friday, June 18 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital. Memorial services were Sunday, June 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Don Smotherman officiating. Burial was performed in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetary(sic) under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Sayre.
Robert (Bob) was born on June 16, 1917 in Erick, Oklahoma. He graduated from Rankin High School. He married Oleta Worely on October 31, 1936 at Reydon, Oklahoma. After their marriage they lived in Reydon. Robert was the owner and manager of the Plaza Motel and Dairy Maid. Bob ws(sic) employed as a lineman for Dorate, Inc. from 1966 until his reitrement(sic) in 1971.
He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors in Mr. Spurlin's family are his wife, Oleta, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Don (DeAnn) Fairless of Midwest City, Oklahoma; one grandson, Timmy Fairless of Midwest City, Oklahoma; his father, Walter J. Spurlin of Jasper, Texas and one brother, J.B. Spurlin of Fairview, Oklahoma.
