Hansel married twice. First to Elissa Baskin and had a son. (They divorced 1936) and second to Amy (Unknown) who was a surgical nurse who he met while driving an ambulance for St Mary's Hospital in Long Beach, CA. Amy and Hansel had a daughter and were also divorced. Hansel died at the VA Hospital in 1974 of cancer.
