Will French and his wife Minnie operated a telephone exchange in the Navarro Mills community in their early life. He helped build and donated land for Navarro Mills Baptist Church in 1910 where he was the song leader and Minnie played the organ and also taught Bible classes there. He had the honor of turning the first shovel of dirt for the Navarro Mills Lake, but never lived to see it completed.
