John Emery Burr was the eldest of seven children of John Pierre Burr and Hester Elizabeth Emory. Like his parents and siblings, he was an active social reformer and abolitionist in Philadelphia. He lived for a short while with his wife in Bridgeport, Fairfield Co, CT. It is assumed his remains were reinterred at Eden Cemetery in Collingdale PA in 1903 after Lebanon Cemetery was condemned in the cause of urban renewal in 1899.

Obituary from pg 8, Philadelphia Public Ledger, June 6, 1895:
'BURR--On the 3d inst., JOHN EMORY BURR, aged 75 years.
'The relatives and friends of the family, also Equity Lodge, No. 1344, G. U. O. of O. F. and the Sons of St. Thomas Society, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, on Saturday, at i o'clock, from his late residence, No. 1509 Woodstock street (Twentieth and Dickinson). Services at St. Thomas's P. E. Church, at 2 o'clock. Interment at Lebanon Cemetery.'
