Glenna Rose (Towns) Brown, age 72, of Cedar Springs, Michigan, left her earthly home on May 22, 2013 and is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her family members, George Towns, June Swett Long, Lola Bradner and Arthur Olson. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward; daughters, Sherry and David Brown, Billie and Kirk Freeland; grandchildren, Bethany, Justin, Lauren, Sylvia; aunt, Bernice Cooper; many cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and a loving church family at Kent City Baptist Church. After graduating from Kent City High School in 1959, she worked in the offices at Wolverine World Wide for three years. In addition to being a homemaker, she returned to college to earn her elementary teaching degree. Teaching was her passion. She loved her 20 years of teaching at Algoma Christian Schools and continued to stay busy substitute teaching in Kent City and Sparta after her retirement. She enjoyed staying in contact with her former students and being a part of their lives. She also stayed busy with several other hobbies including attending activities of her grandchildren, baking and gardening. She would often pick extra fruit and vegetables to deliver to neighbors and friends. She also loved to travel with her husband including trips to Finland, Portugal, Alaska and Europe. She wasn't happy unless she was helping others whether it was her family or volunteering with her church. An active part of Kent City Baptist Church her whole life, she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, Awana Leader, and served on the Missions Committee as well as taking several missions trips with her husband. The family wishes to thank everyone for all their prayers and support during her illness.
