Stephen Paul Sims, MSgt USAF (Retired), 48, formerly of Logansport and California, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, in Knightstown. Born Jan. 25, 1966, in New York City, he was the son of Richard T. and Pauline A. "Paula" Dawson Sims.
He was married to Denise Ross Sims, who survives.
Steve served in the U.S. Air Force from 1984 to 2005.
He was a 1984 graduate of Logansport High School and earned a master's degree from New Mexico State University, graduating summa cum laude.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen Sims and Aidan Sims; brothers, Joseph Sims and Raymond (wife, Marshelle) Sims; and sisters, Angela Sims-Fuelling (husband, Jim Fuelling) and Paula (husband, Sam) Steele; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His parents preceded him in death .
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Father Michael McKinney officiating.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in National Cemetery in Marion, with full military honors.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home.
