Services for Jane E. Donaldson, 81, of Canby, were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Reverend Cy Solberg officiated. Donaldson died Sunday, May 11, 1997, at the Senior Haven Nursing Home in Canby.
Bruce Melby sang "In The Garden" and "I'm But a Stranger Here." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Karen Olsen was organist.
Casketbearers were Cory Brockman, Joel Timm, Rory Jones, Troy Jones, Clayton Melby and Jane Lideen. Interment was in the Canby City Cemetery.
Jane Emilie Karpinski was born May 31, 1915, at Watertown, S.D., to Adam and Gyda (Helgemoe) Karpinski. She moved with her family to Canby when she was an infant. She was confirmed at the St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Canby and graduated from Canby High School in 1935.
On May 5, 1943, she and Carroll Donaldson were married at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. They lived on a farm until 1955 when the moved into Canby.
In 1993, Donaldson moved to the West Prairie Apartments in Cottonwood. In 1995, she moved to Senior Haven, where she lived until her death.
Donaldson was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of WELCA. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for several years.
Donaldson is survived by her daughter, June (Steve) Brockman of Cottonwood; grandchildren: Janel (Joel) Timm of Wood Lake, Cory, Staci and Jami Brockman of Cottonwood: two great-grandchildren: Jesse and Angela Timm; and sister, Mabel Reihe of Glenwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carroll on June 22, 1973; one brother and three sisters.
