Bill was born May 18, 1924 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of George and Lillian (Kouba) Bock. Bill was a 1941 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He proudly served in the US Army in Japan during World War II. Bill married Phyllis Mathes on May 16, 1947 in Iowa City.
Bill was a labor foreman for 49 years with Local 1238, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, VFW Post #3949 and a honorary life member of American Legion Post #17. In 1996 Bill became a Veterans Trail Honoree.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Mary Bock and brother John “Jack” Bock.
