Private 10th Virginia Reg 7th Company killed in battle at the Battle of Brandywine. Buried in a mass grave.
James has mostly been forgotten by history. He appears in no books about the Revolutionary War dead. No families seem to claim him and DNA and naming convention causes me to now believe he was married to Anna Dean and was the father of William O'Kelley, Thomas Dean O'Kelley, and Rev James O'Kelley. I believe his son William O'Kelley married Elizabeth Dean and Charles, and Francis O'Kelley who moved to Georgia in the early 1800s were the sons of William and Elizabeth. I think James O'Kelley is likely my ancestor to come from Co Meath Ireland about 1747 and settled in King and Queen Co Virginia.
