BLAIN - Blaine E. Shambaugh, 95, of Blain passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 in the Claremont Nursing and Rehab Center, Carlisle.
Blaine was born March 21, 1919 in Blain to the late Charles E. and Lottie M. (Smith) Shambaugh. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years of marriage, Ruth L. (Gray) Shambaugh, three brothers, Dean, Miles and Wayne Shambaugh and a former daughter-in-law, Sherry D. Shambaugh.
He was a World War II Army Veteran; was in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart.
He was owner of Shambaugh Feeds for 38 years and formerly worked at the Shade Gap Sawmill.
He was a member of Oddfellows Lodge 706, Blain, American Legion Post 232, Dry Run, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Association, former President of the Blain Fire Company and Honorary member of Camp Fairview.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are a son Curtis R. Shambaugh of Carlisle, and four grandsons, Wayne and his wife Vicky Shambaugh, Michael Shambaugh, Bryan Shambaugh, Craig Shambaugh, three great-grandchildren, Emily Shambaugh, Abby Shambaugh, Dalton Shambaugh, a brother, Clyde Shambaugh of Landisburg, a sister, Ethel Beaston and her husband Mike of New Bloomfield and his close and loving friend Maxi.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in the Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, Pa. 17047 with his grandson, Pastor Craig A. Shambaugh officiating.
Viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Blain Cemetery at 12:15 PM Tuesday with folding of the flag honors by the Perry County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, P. O. BOX 127, Blain, Pa. 17006 or to the Blain Fire Company, P. O. BOX 7, Blain, Pa. 17006.
