He was born on Jan. 24, 1933, in Lapel, Indiana, to Lewis and Ruby (Jones) Barker.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 1951 and served in the U. S. Army.
Jack retired in 1998 from the former Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson after 47 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris (Reddick) Barker; three sons, Kevin Barker of Pendleton, Jerry (wife, Kathy) Barker of Anderson, and Brook (wife, Kim) Barker of Huntington; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Barker of Anderson, Hillary (husband, Jason) Reeves of Anderson, Heather (husband, Eric) Miller of Kentucky, Doris (husband, Jason) Marcum of Anderson, Kylie (husband, Marc) Cruea of Anderson, Kasie (husband, Aaron) Hymes of Anderson, Jason Barker of Anderson, Jamie Hollen of Anderson, Brandon and Lindsey Barker of Huntington; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Kim Dee Barker; and two brothers, Max and Bill Barker.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastors Stephen Passmore and Gary Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Memorial Cemetery, Noblesville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 N. Main St., Lapel.
