Jeanne M. Parker, 92, passed away November 14, 2014. She was born May 28, 1922, at 7530 Pennsylvania, Kansas City, MO, to Theodore C. Phillips and Edna Mae Power Phillips. She lived at her home in Independence since May 1, 1960. Jeanne graduated from Wyandotte High School and began employment at Hallmark Cards. In 1942, she began her journey with the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1990 due to an injury, just three months short of 49 years. Jeanne married Gordon W. Parker on March 7, 1975, in Miami, Oklahoma. They were separated by his death on February 19, 1985. Jeanne was a life active member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Intl. since 1949, serving as I.C. President in 1965-1966 and on its Foundation Board. She was also a member of the Society of Government Meetings Planners, Federally Employed Women, U.S. Air Force Officers' Club, Federal Women's sub-committee and Executive Board, National Association of Parliamentarians, East Slope Eastern Star, New Kids on the Block Puppet Program, Westport-Roanoke Senior Club, T.C. Dance Group and Wyandotte Seniors. Jeanne will always be remembered for her love of life and dedication to the betterment of community. She believed in education, always learning, doing something new, and challenging yourself to be the best you can be. Jeanne will be remembered as a loving sister to Doris and Clifford, aunt, and true friend. She touched many lives with her smile and friendship, teaching the true meaning of unconditional love to both humans and animals. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday, November 17, and a service celebrating Jeanne's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 18, both at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the "Jeanne Parker Endowment" or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
