DANVILLE, Va. - Hallie Purgason Martin, age 92, of Danville, died April 21, 2006, at Riverside Health Care Center. Born Nov. 12, 1913, in Danville, she was a daughter of William H. Purgason and Alice Cumble Purgason. She had lived all of her life in Danville and was employed at Dan River, Inc. She was married to Clarence Edward Martin, who died in 1959. She is survived by a sister, Nannie P. Eanes of Danville; a brother, Herman W. Purgason of Lompoc, Calif.; and one grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by a daughter, Loretta Martin Guill; two brothers, Garnett M. Purgason and Norman K. Purgason; and two sisters, Zetta Bingham and Mattie Purgason. The funeral will be held April 23, at Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
