Robert Donald "Bob" Kuebler

R.D. "Bob" Kuebler died on April 15th at his residence. Born March 19, 1925 in Muscatine, Iowa to Royal and Lillian (Rosenmund) Kuebler, this quiet, gentle man devoted his life to Vi, his wife of 68 years, his children – Micheal, Kandace, and Brian, grandson Erik, and service to his community. The world is diminished with his passing.

A master carpenter, he used his talents and skills to build 26 homes for the Habitat for Humanity organization as well as restoring houses that are on the National Historic Buildings Registry. He also served two years in the US Navy during World War II, seeing duty in New Guineau, the Phillipines and Bataan.

In his local community he was a Boy Scout Leader, served on the West Liberty, Iowa School Board and was a Rotarian and a member of Kiwanis. His family was inspired and guided by his sense of adventure - Bob and Vi took their children on camping trips from Key West to the Rockie Mountains. Bob knew the importance of great literature, reading the classics to his children at bedtime. His love of roses, respect for history, and sense of commitment were all shared with his family and friends. He will be missed.

Survivors include his wife, Viola (Tiedemann) Kuebler; his children – Micheal, Kandace and Brian, their spouses – Nancy (Leimers)) and Mary Ellen (Mays) Kuebler; grandson, Erik; sister-in-law Jackie Lewis; nephew George Holzhauer; nieces, Tamara Deviney and Diana Wiig and their families. He is proceeded in death by his parents; one sister Bernice McIntire; a granddaughter; and niece Cheryl Lee McIntire. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine, Iowa. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, 105 Amsden Road, Ormond Beach, FL. Condolences may be shared for the family at www.dalewoodwardfuneralhomes.com.
