Dewey was born March 2, 1923, in Shawnee to his parents Samual and Ruby (Boland) Young.
He received his education at Shawnee Public School.
In the spring of 1942 he married Alice Virginia Young.
She preceded him in death in 2004.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient.
Dewey was a horse and cattle rancher. He was a member of the Miniature Horse Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Bruce, and a sister, Betty.
Dewey is survived by children, Loretta Sue McGuire, Dewey Raymond Young, II, Sharon Kay Gentry, and DeWayne B. Young; sister, Dorothy Bennett; sister in-law, Coleen Kirkland; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at graveside, with David Pollard officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, with Walker Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
