Marvin Earl Meppelink was the second of three sons that were born to Herman Paul and Emma Wilhelmina (De Bruin) Meppelink. He was born on October 29, 1939, at Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Marv attended the Pella Public Schools in Pella and graduated from Pella High School with the Class of 1957. Marv enlisted in the Armed Forces of the United States in December, 1958 and served with the U. S. Army Reserves until December, 1964. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and made many lifetime friends.

Marv was employed at the Pella Corporation in Pella and then began farming. Marv and Marvin Vande Voort were mutual friends in high school and in April, 1980, Marvin Vande Voort passed away.

On July 29, 1982, he and Ilene Dorothy (Lanser) Vande Voort were united in marriage in Pella. Marv and Ilene and her four children: Kenneth Marvin, Marla Ilene, Vivian, and Kevin Gene became a blended family.

Marv was a successful farmer and enjoyed farming until he retired in 2010. Farming was not only a favorite interest of his but also his hobby and the farm was his favorite place to be. His favorite pastime was playing cards with his many friends. “Mepp” and Ilene established a winter home in Arizona and they enjoyed trips to Alaska, Holland, Israel, and Hawaii.

On Monday morning, October 15, 2012, he passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella just prior to his 73rd birthday.

He is survived by his wife, Ilene, and her four children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They and their families are:

Of his original family Marv leaves his youngest brother, Alven Robert Meppelink, and his wife, Shirley (DeVore) of Oskaloosa, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman P. and Emma Meppelink; and his older brother, Gene Edwin Meppelink. Marvin was baptized and made profession of his faith at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella and was a faithful member of the Faith Christian Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa.
