He was born July 22, 1922 in Crivitz.
He served in the United States Army Company B 565th Signal Air Warning Battalion. Tony was drafted in 1942 with the first batch of 20 year olds from Marinette County during WWII. Tony served 32 months in the South Pacific until he was honorably discharged as a PFC from the U.S. Army in 1946. Deployment campaigns included the East Indies, New Guinea and Luzon and among decorations and citations he received were the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
He Married Norma Czerniewski on September 6,1947 at St Mary’s Church in Crivitz. The couple resided in Wausaukee where he was employed by Wisconsin Public Service for 42 years as a meter reader until retirement in 1987.
Surviving are Gerald (Annette), Darryll (Fay), Randall (Cathy) and Patrick (Rose) Schmidt all of Wausaukee, WI, Gaylene (Mario) Muniz of Wrightstown, WI and Doreen (Tom) Bucaro of Elk Grove Village, Ill. 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife Norma and one son Antone Jr.
