Harry E. Gavitt was born in Topeka Jan. 1, 1875, the son of William W. and Jennie (Spangle) Gavitt. His father, a native of Ohio, came to Topeka in 1868 and established a banking and loan business and various other firms bearing his name.
Harry E. Gavitt was married May 17, 1905, to Miss Edith Snyder, of Topeka.
Harry graduated from Washburn Law School, and took private courses in medicine, pharmacy, chemistry from the Univ. of Kansas. He re-organized the Gavitt Medical Co., founded by his father. Harry is now president of Gavitt Loan & Investment Co. and the W. W. Gavit Medical Co. He is manager of the W. W. Gavitt Printing and Publishing Co, and vice-president of The Topeka State Bank.
