Glenda Heilman, 87, of Cabot, passed peacefully into the spiritual world Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, where she had made her home for the past six years. She was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Tarentum, the only daughter of Glenn and Hilda (Barnes) Heilman. She graduated from Smith College and received an advanced degree in musicology from the University of Pennsylvania. She taught music in various public high schools and at Delaware College in Doylestown, Pa. Glenda had lived and worked in New Hope, Pa., for more than 40 years, where she retired as a concert pianist. She worked in many fields including travel, educational testing, the news media and as chaperone for America Youth in Concert tours in Europe, to name a few. She was a world traveler and made many friends. She is survived by brothers, Stephen (Dru) Heilman, M.D., and Daniel (Dawn) Heilman, M.D.; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Heilman. One of the great delights in her life was being "Aunt Glenda" to 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Heilman. A private burial service was held at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Final arrangements entrusted to REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport, PA 16229.
