The Marion Register Tuesday August 24, 1909
Eugene Holmes died at his home in Cedar Rapids Friday after a lingering illness of several months. He is survived by a wife, mother and three brothers. His mother Mrs. Eliza Holmes and brother Frank are both residents of this city. His other brothers are Harry of Decorah and George of Chicago. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery in this city Saturday and services were held at the grave being conducted by Rev. J.J. Janes, pastor of the Congregational church. The deceased was a painter by trade and previous to his illness was in the Republican Printing Company.

Death of Eugene Holmes.
Eugene Holmes, a veteran employe of the Republican Printing company, died yesterday at his home on Ninth avenue, after a lingering illness. The remains were taken to Marion, the old family home, for interment.

Married Mary Robecheck on Nov. 27, 1890 in Cedar Rapids. Daughter of Herman and Mary Novak Robecheck.
