COOPER, CLAYTON RAY, SR., age 82, of Sweetwater, passed away 8:15 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Walk By Faith Church. Preceded in death by parents, James (Pokie) and Nancy Cooper, sister, Nancy Harrell, sons-in-law, Junior Dean, Bill Sowards. Survivors: wife of 60 years, Barbara Cooper; daughters and son-in-law- Deborah Cooper McMahan, Sweetwater,Dianne Dean Sowards, Citico Community, Joyce and Ricky McMahan, Ballplay Community; son and daughter-in-law, Clayton, Jr. and Georgia Cooper, of Madisonville; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Vernie Thompson, of Loudon, Evelyn Botts, of Knoxville, Alice Motley, of Tunnel Hill, GA, Henrietta Lankford, Greenback; brothers, David Cooper, of Vonore, William Cooper, of Athens, J.D. Cooper, of Maryville; favorite niece, Kathy (Chop) Holloway, of Madisonville; lots of other nieces and nephews. Funeral 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Dennis Robinson, Rev. Steve Kirby officiating. Interment in Big Toqua Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
