LIMA — Arlie B. Best, 89, of Lima, passed away at 5:26 am on Friday, November 14, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on August 19, 1925 in Cairo, OH to Arlie B. "Ike" Best and Lois (Lamb) Best who both preceded him in death. On November 26, 1975 he married Wilma Jean Wert and she survives in Lima. He was previously married to Rosemary Bradford.

Arlie retired from Ford Motor Company in 1987 where he was a Fire Protection Officer and also served as a volunteer for the Cairo Fire Department. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, trips to Indian River and spending time at the pond with family and friends. He was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church and was dearly loved by his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his three sons Kim Best of Bluffton, OH, Kodi Best of Cairo, OH and Kendall Best of Vandalia, OH; a step son Ron Best of Lima, OH; his four daughters Kathi (Best) Mournighan of Indianapolis, IN, Karen (Best) Schultz of Dayton, OH, Koe (Best) Thompson of Las Vegas, NV and Kari (Best) Mckanna of Columbus, OH; a step daughter Nancy (Best) Gross of Lima, OH; two brothers Leslie and John Best both of Cairo, OH; nineteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters Caroline Harter and Phyllis Thomas.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday prior to the service.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 17, 2014 with Pastor Greg Coleman and Rich Rakay officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cairo United Methodist Church or to the Cairo Fire Department.
