He was born August 11, 1909 to Melvin and Clara Gunderson Helgerson in Fayette county. He died at his home Thursday, Sept. 9.
He attended the rural schools of Fayette county and married Mabel Roffman December 31, 1930. They spent their life farming in Clayton and Winneshiek counties and later near Castalia.
He is survived by his wife, a son Milo of Postville, a daughter Mrs. Howard (Mary) Bakken of Decorah, three brothers, Morton of Lake View, Millard of Fort Dodge and Emmett of Englewood, CO., three sisters, Mrs. Iva Simpson of Waverly, Mrs. Larry (Elizabeth) Aglipay of Palm Springs, CA and Mrs. Everett (Lillian) Schlitter of Waukon, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Clarence.
