Mr. Tvedt was born May 1, 1919, near Marion, the son of George and Hilda (Hanson) Tvedt. He grew up on a farm near Marion and attended rural school. On October 4, 1937, he married Mildred Lee at Valley City. They lived for a time at Sand Prairie and Harwood before returning to Meadow Lake Township near Marion in 1946. They farmed and he ran his own trucking business, hauling potatoes and hauling monuments for Hub Peterson Funeral Home, Valley City. He raised horses and was a member of the Jamestown Eagles.
Pallbearers were his grandsons; Darwin Tvedt, Chad Decker, Derrick Tvedt, George Tvedt, III, T. J. Tvedt, Jordan Franzen and Josh Franzen.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Maynard Jr. (Carol), Valley City, Darrel (June), Lake Park, MN, and George (Sally), Eckelson; two daughters, Patricia (Arvid), West Fargo and Debbie (Harold) Franzen-Adema, Sundance, WY; two sisters, Tudy Collings and Leona Maziekas, both of California; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
