From the St. Paul (Nebraska) Phonograph, September 29, 1882, page 5, transcribed by Linda Berney - Extremely poor copy, best attempt at transcription:

DIED - CHEEVER - Sept 17th 1882 of billous fever, Mary V. Cheever aged [illegible].

Mary Vina Curtis was born in Porter county Indiana May 7th, 1853, and was married in the same county, January 31st, 1869. She moved to Merrick county, this state, in 1872, and to St. Paul four years ago last August.

She was sick but seven days and was perfectly conscious of the change she was about to make from this vale of sin, to the silent shadowy tomb. Standing in the portals of the great and mysterious unknown in perfect consciousness, she looked forward without a murmur in the face of fate, and bade her friends a calm farewell.

She left a husband and three children to mourn her loss, besides a circle of friends who regret her untimely demise.
