DEATH OF HELEN BARRETT
Helen, the beloved wife of Dr. Max Barrett, aged 20 years, died at her home, corner of Jefferson and Carey steets, Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock following an illness of six months which dated from the birth of her baby daughter, Margaret.
The untimely death of this beloved young woman is not only case for deep sorrow and mourning in her own immediate family, but is most keenly felt by her wide circle of friends in this city with all of whom she was a universal favorite. She was one of the city's sweet singers and was a sociable, lovable young woman.
Mrs. Barrett was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Heaton and was born in the city of Indianapolis, February 21, 1895, but she had resided in Knightstown most of her life, and received her early education in the local public schools. She was an accomplished singer and had appeared in many of the musical performances given in this city during the past few years prior to her death. She formerly sang in the Methodist choir.
She was married two years ago on the 7th of last September, at Winona Lake, Indiana, to Dr. Max Barrett, of this city. To this happy union one daughter, Margaret, came six months ago to brighten and bless their home. With her father she survives today. Mrs. Barrett is also survived by her father and mother an one sister, Leone Heaton.
The funeral was conducted at [the] late home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. H. T. Graham, of Franklin, former pastor of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. George M. Whitenack, pastor. The remains were deposited in the Heaton vault in Glencove cemtery."
