Obituary: Nettie, one of a family of 9 children born to Jacob and Mary (Van Zee) De Haan, was born at her parental farm home near Pella, Iowa on July 17, 1894. During the early years of her lifetime she attended the East Silver Grove Rural School and lived with her parents until her marriage to John W. Meyer on December 11, 1919. She and her husband farmed 2 miles west of Pella until 1953 when they moved to Pella. John, her husband, died May 11, 1954 and Nettie resided at her home until moving into Fairhaven in 1969 where she was living at the time of her death. Mrs. Meyer passed away Wednesday afternoon at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 20 days. Profession of her faith was made at an early age at the First Reformed Church in Pella where she has held membership ever since. Surviving her are 7 brothers and sisters: Dick De Haan of Newton; Marie (Mrs. Ben Fynaardt) of Oskaloosa; Helen (Mrs. Herbert Fennema) of Pella; Peter De Haan of Des Moines; Florence (Mrs. Reuben Thomassen) of Leighton; Mabel (Mrs. Louis Vander Wilt) of Ames; and Jacob De Haan of Pella. Her mother died January 8, 1944; her father died February 4, 1952, and a sister, Margaret (Mrs. Gerrit Dykstra) died in 1935.
