Phyllis Dare Hartis Odell

KANNAPOLIS - Mrs. Phyllis Dare Hartis Odell, 85, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Odell was born Aug. 3, 1928 in Kannapolis. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Randolph Hartis and Lois Bonds Hartis.

Mrs. Odell worked as a teller and as a mortgage secretary for Cabarrus Bank. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis where she served as a financial secretary for the church, sang in the choir and served as a Department Leader and Adult Teacher for Sunday School. She was also a member of the Pilot's Club where she served as President.

Mrs. Odell is survived by her husband, James Odell; son, James L. Odell, Jr. of Kannapolis; daughter, Anne Odell James and husband Donald of Charlotte; brother, Thomas "Tom" Edgar Hartis and wife, Shirley of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Michael Patrick James and Ashley Argo Dunkin and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Cameron, Jaxon, and Jaceon.

Service: A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Dr. Tom Cabaniss and Rev. Mark Hill will officiate.

Visitation:The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
