Marilyn Wayne Taylor Armijo passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, after a two year battle with Mesothelioma cancer, surrounded by her family, having been graced with the visits of many, many friends over the last few months. Marilyn was born October 29, 1940 to Gordon W. Taylor, Sr. and Elizabeth Kelemen Taylor in Galveston, Texas. When Marilyn was eight, the Taylor family moved from Galveston to Glenrock, Wyoming.
Marilyn graduated from Glenrock High School in 1958 and went on to attend Central Business College in Denver, Colorado, where she received an Associate's Degree. It was in Wellington, Co., that Marilyn met the love of her life, Mark Armijo. Marilyn and Mark were married in Cheyenne, Wyoming September 17, 1960 and they brought four children into the world. Marilyn's true calling in life was keeping a happy and healthy home, but she did work outside the home occasionally. She did work much of the last twenty-five years cleaning for St. Louis Catholic Church Parish in Glenrock and a tremendous joy for Marilyn was leading the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults from 1989 to 1999 for St. Louis Parish. Marilyn also taught Catholic youth education in the seventies and eighties. Marilyn's ultimate joy in this life resulted from watching and experiencing the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and all of the members of her extended family.
Marilyn is survived by her four children: Mark David Armijo of Glenrock, Wyoming; Mike Armijo of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Vexie Reimann (Steve) of Buffalo, Wyoming; and Kristi Hart (Dusty) of Manville, Wyoming. Further, she is survived by her grandchildren Meliano, Amanda, Chelsea ,Mark Cherokeanne, Gavin , Caysea, Nicole, Cole, Joseph and Hallie, and by her loving siblings, Jean Harper of Glenrock, Gordon Taylor (Becky) of Cheyenne and Mary Mehaffey (John) of Eldorado, Kansas and by many, cousins, nieces and nephews. Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Mark Armijo, her parents Gordon Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor, her step mother Ophie Taylor and by her brother-in-law Robert (Pug) Harper.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Louis Catholic Church for masses, to the Central Wyoming Hospice, to the St. Joseph's Children's' Home, Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, or the Western Thunder Marching Band, through the University of Wyoming Foundation.
