BYRD, Carl G. age 71 of South Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Thursday, October 30, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born January 27, 1943 in Clay County, Kentucky, Carl was the son of Roy and Gertie (Allen) Byrd and was a retired equipment operator with the General Motors Corporation in Fairfield.
Carl was a member and deacon of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in South Lebanon, Ohio and loving fishing and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Byrd and sisters Lillie Mae Parker, Goldie Byrd and Lida Taulbee, Carl leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years Shirley (Evans) Byrd of South Lebanon, Ohio; son Jeff (Arlene) Byrd of Morrow, Ohio; daughter Michelle (David) Phelps of Blanchester, Ohio; brother Elvis (Bonnie) Byrd of Kentucky; sister Jessie Jacobs of South Lebanon, Ohio sister-in-law Pat Malott Byrd of South Lebanon, Ohio and brother-in-law Bill Parker of Kentucky and granddaughter Megan (Bryan) Roberts of South Lebanon, Ohio.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 10:30am until 12:30pm at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in South Lebanon, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the church at 12:30pm with Pastor Jason Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio.
