Edward F. O'Connor, 74, of Chester Dr., Windsor Locks, beloved husband of 49 years to the late Jacqueline (Aldrich) O'Connor, passed peacefully surrounded by his family, Wednesday (June 23, 2004) at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Patrick J. O'Connor, Sr. and Mary (Herlihy) O'Connor and had lived in Windsor Locks for the past 45 years. Edward served as a radio operator during the Korean War and was a member of Gensi-Viola Post #36-American Legion. He was a member of Riverside Council #26- KoC and Riverside Assembly 4th degree-KoC. He had been employed in Operations at American Airlines at Bradley International Airport for 45 years before his retirement. Ed was a die hard Red Sox Fan and loved the New York Giants. He liked family get togethers, cookouts and especially enjoyed hosting Super Bowl Sunday. Ed will always be remembered as being funny, with a great sense of humor, proud and hard working. His door was always open. He was a loving Father, and Grandfather "Grampy" to, Chris E. O'Connor of North Carolina, and his son, Ryan of Vermont; Debra (O'Connor) Eckley and her husband, William and their children, Patrick, Sean, Shannon and Kayla of East Hartland; Craig F. O'Connor and his wife, Sheila and their children, Keenan E. and Mackenzie E. of Windsor Locks; Shane P. O'Connor and his wife, Lisa and their daughter, Erin E. and step grandchildren, Mark, Lauren and Ruth Ann of Windsor Locks; Kelly (O'Connor) Simone and her husband, Richard of Philadelphia, PA; his sisters, Mary O'Connor of Windsor Locks and Catherine Ciccomascolo of Middlefield and his brother, John O'Connor of North Carolina; his sister-in-law, Patti Benton of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Patrick J. O'Connor, Jr., William O'Connor and his sister, Margaret Thomas. Relatives and friends will gather Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks for a procession to St. Mary Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
