John Merrill Giffin of McMinnville, died March 30 in a Portland hospital following a weeks illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today) at 1:30 p.m. in Riverview Abbey at Portland. Rev. Paul Nystrom, pastor of the McMinnville Seventh-day Adventist Church, will officiate.
John Merrill Giffin was born May 1, 1895 at Waverly, Kan. He had lived in the McMinnville area for 25 years and in Oregon for 45 years. For many years he was a turkey farmer in the McMinnville-Sheridan area and pioneered turkey poult shipping by air. Later he was district manager of the Northwest Poultry Company. He was also in real estate for a time. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Celia; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Giffin of Milwaukie; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Underwood of Milwaukie, and Mrs. Velma Lewis of Salem.
The family requests memorials to made to the Seventh-day Adventist Church at McMinnville.
