Professional Football (Soccer) Player. He was the last surviving member of the 1934 United States World Cup team and the oldest surviving member of the United States Soccer Hall of Fame. He played defender in the 1934 World Cup qualification round, helping to defeat Mexico before losing to eventual World Cup Champion Italy in the first round. He was a member of the Philadelphia German-Americans of the American Soccer League, where he led the team to victory in the 1933 and 1934 United States Amateur Cups and victory in the 1936 United States Open Cup. He was selected as a member of the 1936 United States Olympic team but failed to compete because of time and work considerations. He was inducted into the United States Soccer Hall of Fame in 1979 and died at a nursing home facility in Pennsylvania at the age of 95.
