Age 85, he was a son of Vircel R. Kimmy, Sr. and Marjorie Pattison Kimmy. He was a graduate of East High School and went on to earn Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Edinboro University. He served in the U.S. Navy and was discharged on June 20, 1951. Vircel was employed as a teacher in Dresden, Ohio, and at the Erie School District from September 1967 until 1993. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Erie and also a volunteer with the American Red Cross. He was a member of Dresden, Ohio Lodge No. 103 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies of Erie.
Vircel was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Johnson and Alene Hickey; one brother, Gerald Kimmy; and a son that died in childbirth, James Kimmy.
He is survived by his wife Beverly A. Kimmy; two daughters, Holly Kimmy, and Robin Tufts, both of Erie; and one son, Kenneth Kimmy, of Erie. He is further survived by four grandchildren.
