Betty graduated from Nickerson High School in 1935. On July 14, 1941, she married William Corwin Hobson Sr. in Hutchinson. He passed away on June 5, 1972. Betty was a homemaker and member of the Holy Cross altar society, numerous bridge clubs and the Hutchinson hospital auxiliary. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include: daughters, Barbara Hobson, Mary Hobson and Helen Hobson, all of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Kellie Pankratz and husband David of Cheney; grandson, Jay Self of Hutchinson; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel, Thomas, Noel and Lily Pankratz of Cheney. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Hobson Sr.; son, William C. Hobson Jr.; sisters, Mary Hawks, Thelma Hawks and Joan Foster; parents, Frank and Lottie Costello.
Parish Rosary will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2 p.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph A. Eckberg presiding. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Church of the Holy Cross, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
