Elizabeth “Betty” F. Hobson, 98, passed away at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Hutchinson, to Frank and Lottie (Dull) Costello.
Betty graduated from Nickerson High School in 1935. On July 14, 1941, she married William Corwin Hobson Sr. in Hutchinson. He passed away on June 5, 1972. Betty was a homemaker and member of the Holy Cross altar society, numerous bridge clubs and the Hutchinson hospital auxiliary. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include: daughters, Barbara Hobson, Mary Hobson and Helen Hobson, all of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Kellie Pankratz and husband David of Cheney; grandson, Jay Self of Hutchinson; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel, Thomas, Noel and Lily Pankratz of Cheney. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Hobson Sr.; son, William C. Hobson Jr.; sisters, Mary Hawks, Thelma Hawks and Joan Foster; parents, Frank and Lottie Costello.
Parish Rosary will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2 p.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph A. Eckberg presiding. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
