Bruce was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 29 years, Jill Hammons; a proud and caring father to his son, Aaron DeLong, and his daughter, Alicia DeLong; a proud grandfather to his three grandsons, Toshan, Sajan, and Elliot, and granddaughter, Amara. Bruce was also a loving father-in-law to Sheila and Jason; a sweet nephew to Aunt Billie; an amazing baby brother to Kathleen, Ernie, John, and Lou, a wonderful brother-in-law to Sandra, Su, and Bruce, and always “the cool uncle” to all his nieces and nephews. Additionally, Bruce was a friend for life to many people he crossed paths with. Bruce worked at Monroe Welding Supply for over 30 years. He loved his job and considered those he worked with a second family.
His passions in life included excitement for basketball and football, well-written fiction books, blues music, a good cup of coffee, sweet treats, and bacon, a new love for playing golf, as well as an unwavering love for any and all puppy-dogs. Above all else though, Bruce’s love for family and friends stood out. He put people and relationships as his highest priority, and loved nothing more than spending time with loved ones and putting smiles on the faces of those around him.
Funeral services for Bruce will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 14, 2014, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, with Pastor Christopher Miller officiating. Interment will be the following day at 11:00 am at Pollock Cemetery in the town of Pollock, in Grant Parish. The family will receive friends between 5:30 and 7:00 Thursday evening, at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
