Herald Coaster, December 19, 1983:

Funeral services for Fay Mabel Strickland, 79, of Richmond, were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Richmond, with Rev. John Lockhart officiating.

Strickland died Saturday at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond and served as Women's Missionary Union President for several years.

She is survived by three daughters Dorothy Vyvial of Rosenberg, Evelyn Hardin of Beasley, and Nita Bice of Lafayette, La.; three sons, James Strickland of Stafford, Robert Strickland of Houston, and Thomas Strickland of Richmond; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers.

Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

The family requests that all memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Mission Offering.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors of Richmond.
