Dale "Butch" Todd Boyd
Dale was born in Spearville, Kansas on January 16, 1947 the son of Calvin Todd Boyd and Faye (Hughes) Boyd. At the age of 5, he and his family moved to Independence. He graduated from Independence High School in 1965 and married Patricia Jane Grabham at Independence, Kansas in 1966.
He was a veteran of the 1011th United States Army Reserve Unit for 6 years.
Dale attended Wichita State University from 1969 to 1970. He then became employed for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Wichita in the marketing department. Southwestern Bell transferred him to Independence in 1970. He went to work for Hackney & Sons from 1971 until 1976 when he became an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance group. He served as an agent for 12 years and as a district manager for 10 years.
He then became employed with Newkirk Dennis & Buckles Insurance in Independence where he was working at the time of his death.
He was the youngest master of the Independence Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Shriner's Association. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as head usher for many years.
Survivors include wife of 45 years, Patsi of the home; daughter, Kristin Scott and her husband Don of Topeka, Kansas; son Brian Todd Boyd of Kansas City, Missouri; sister Judy Uzueta of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Dave Adolf of Omaha, Nebraska and two grandchildren Justus and Kallie.
