Daryl “Pops” Eugene Reed (also known as Fahmee Kamal Ackbar) was born February 20, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa to Stanley Gordan and Vina Louise (Robinson) Reed. Daryl attended school in Waterloo and graduated in 1968 from Waterloo East High School.

He was an all-around athlete and enjoyed life to the fullest – especially dancing, singing and playing drums in the Waterloo Elks Drum & Bugle Corp and softball for the Optimist Club. Most of all, he loved spending time with his brothers and the rest of his family.

Daryl passed away at home on Tuesday, November 11 at 64 years of age of natural causes.

He is survived by his sons: Kenyatta Draine of Waterloo and Kawanee Smith of Denver, Colorado; 2 brothers: Bruce (Jocelyn) Reed and Dwight Reed both of Waterloo; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents.
