Edwin, who resided at 1804 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Staff Sergeant and ball turret gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress (#43-37510), 612th Bomber Squadron, 401st Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He was "Killed In Action" in a mission over France by enemy anti-aircraft fire.

He had served in the Air Corps for one year and six months at the time of his death and was decorated with the Distingushed Flying Cross, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Purple Heart.
