Manuel Lopez Sanchez, from Mojave, California, passed away to eternal glory on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Mission Community Hospital in Panorama City, California, after an acute illness. Up until his illness, he remained very active at the age of 98 years old. Manuel was born in Mexico on January 20, 1916, and was married to his spouse, Altagracia “Grace” Sanchez, for 68 years. He and his wife raised their six children in Mojave and were blessed with twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson. After retirement from Southern Pacific Railroad with 34 years of service, he enjoyed holidays and special occasions with his children and grandchildren; his special kitties; working in his yard; and being an active participant at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Manuel is survived by his children: Louis Sanchez (Gloria) Mojave, CA; Rosie Thompson (Addison) Santa Barbara, CA; Hector Sanchez (Kelly) Mojave, CA; Anna McAtee Santa Clarita, CA; Jim Sanchez (Rosie) Rancho Santa Fe, CA; and Linda Thiele (Brad) Lancaster, CA. Grandchildren: David Edmonds, Jessica Sanchez, Heather Edmonds, Jennifer Echeverria, Eric Edmonds, Jason Sanchez, Tabitha McAtee, Amanda Thiele, Dana Thiele, Melissa Thiele, Jimmy Sanchez, Jr., and Brianna Sanchez. Great-Grandson: Frank Echeverria

Visitation was held Monday, November 3, 2014, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stickel’s Mortuary. The Rosary was held at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, in Mojave, on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Following the services was the funeral interment at East Kern Cemetery in Mojave, followed by a reception at the Saint Francis Hall.
